Charlotte Jean
Legg

Charlotte Jean Legg, 86, of Cross Lanes, formerly of Dunbar passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Hubbard Hospice House after a long illness.
She was born in Dunbar, October 25, 1938 to the late Delbert and Anna Sovine Kay.
Charlotte was a proud 1957 graduate of Dunbar High School. Charlotte's diverse talents and vast energy led her to her first job at The Diamond in the Book Department. To find her own path, later she owned and operated The French Quarter Restaurant in Dunbar. She also served as one of the first women on the Dunbar city council.
Her prime accomplishment though was her service to God, love and devotion to her family, church family, and her joy in serving others.
Charlotte was a longtime member of the Nitro Church of the Nazarene and held leadership positions in every facet of the church.
Her most recent mission project was the Crisis Care Kits which were, sent all over the country to assist people with their basic needs in the event of a natural disaster.
Charlotte was a source of incredible wisdom and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Charlotte's favorite Bible verse was "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".
This verse was especially evident during the final months of her life.
She could talk to anyone, always had a smile, and a hug for everyone, and was never shy about sharing her faith in Jesus.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Britt Legg; her brothers, Frank and Danny Kay; along with her sister, Connie Vowell.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Kelly Petry with whom she made her home; Kelly's partner, Ken Hartman; son, Larry Legg (Kathy); brother, John Kay (Barbara); sister, Margaret Comer; sister-in-law, Jackie Kay; grandchildren, Chad Petry (Sarah), Chase Petry (Courtney), Brooke Legg (Geoff), Ethan Legg (Lily); great- grandsons, Clayton, Hudson, Miller, and Turner; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Palliative Care nurse Sarah Swisher, Dr. L. Al-Asadi, Dr. Sam Moushmoush, and the caring Hospice staff. We would also like to thank the many church members, friends, and family who assisted over Charlotte's final weeks.
There will be a funeral service held at 5 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastor Bron Walker officiating.
Family will welcome friends two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the Nitro Church of the Nazarene for mission projects at 1107 Main Avenue, Nitro, WV 25143 c/o Vi Long, Church Secretary.
