Charlotte Mae Tate, of Dunbar, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2012.
She was born on October 10th to C. T. and Effie Garnes of Dunbar.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her soul mate and loving husband of 60 years, Joseph Grant Tate, brothers, Paul, Nelson and Bob Garnes and sisters, Paulette Garnes and Ruthie Edmonds.
Charlotte was a graduate of Dunbar High School and worked as a secretary for Union Carbide in Institute. She also served as secretary for Larry Barker, former mayor of Dunbar and for the Kanawha County Juvenile Court. Charlotte was a member of the Dunbar First Baptist Church.
Charlotte is survived by her son, Joseph Tate, Jr. and his wife, Patsy of Wyoming; daughter, Linda Sexton and her husband, Roy of Scott Depot and daughter, Suzie Roy and her husband, Richard of Oak Hill; sister, Faye Moles of Melbourne, Florida. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and her special granddog, Daphney.
Charlotte was a very unique lady with her sense of humor, her antidotes on life and her special rules for games she played with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by everyone.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 1st at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Dr. Okey Harless officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. A celebration of Charlotte's life will be at her daughter's home at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
