Cheryl Akers, 63, of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away on August 13, 2024, at Hospice House West after a courageous battle with stage 4 melanoma cancer.

Born on July11, 1961, in Charleston, she was the daughter of Betty Bradshaw and Irvin Akers.

Cheryl graduated from Stonewall High School, and spent her career working as a bartender, a job she loved dearly.  She enjoyed spending time at the beach and soaking up the sun whenever possible.  Her favorite pastime was going on Mexican dates, indulging in chips, salsa, pico de gallo, and big margaritas. Cheryl always had a smile on her face, she was a joy to be around.  Sadly for us, But victoriously for her, she left her battled scarred body here and gained a new one in Heaven.  We will see her again!

She leaves behind the loves of her life, her daughter, Taylor; two grandchildren, Ze'Dyn and Promyse.  She fought so hard to stay with us.

Cheryl was known for her kindness and selflessness, always putting others before herself.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all the doctors and nurses who cared for Cheryl during her illness.  She will be forever remembered for her loving spirit and zest for life.  May she rest in peace.

There will be a memorial service at a later date.
