Clarence Durwood "Bud" Plumley, 71, of Charleston passed away on June 11, 2014 at home after a long illness.
He was born June 29, 1942 in Glade, WV to the late Goldie Martin Plumley and Jack "Curtis" Plumley.
He worked for many years at Capitol Chrysler in their auto body shop and in other shops throughout Charleston. He also worked for Siltex Mines in Beckley prior to moving to Kanawha County.
He attended God's Lighthouse Church as well as Brown United Methodist Church and was a Mason and belonged to Lodge 168.
Clarence was a committed blood donor to the American Red Cross and was very proud of donating 49 gallons and 7 pints. He was also a dedicated volunteer in the Adopt-a-Highway program in his community.
Clarence loved nature and enjoyed being outdoors fishing, mowing, gardening, and feeding birds. He particularly liked to attract bluebirds and built many bluebird houses for himself and others.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather as well as a good neighbor and friend, he will be missed by all and remembered for his humor, unpretentiousness, and work ethic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, C.D. Plumley; brothers, Charles and Emerson Plumley; sisters, Erdine Avis, Lorraine Basham, Lucille Stover, and Kathleen Pauley.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Jeannie Plumley; children, Allegra Enochs (Shawn) of Winchester, VA, Ben of Charleston, SC, Tia Dawn Workman (Dexter) of Ansted; grandchildren, Dewayne, Mirabella, Tiffany, Jennifer, and Devon; brothers Elmer Plumley of Cleveland, Ohio and Jimmy Plumley (Polly) of Oak Hill; sisters, Imogene Underwood of Oak Hill and Cleo Raeon of Dunbar; also several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to his many dedicated doctors, the Gentieva Home Health Staff and the Hospice caregivers for their wonderful care; and to his caregivers, Charlene Walls and Bonnie Seabolt, for their caring, compassionate service.
Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastor Mayford Witt and Rev. Jim McCune officiating.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Jericho House, 401 4th Ave, St. Albans, WV 25177 or Clean Water in Africa make checks payable to Conference Treasurer on memo line put Clean Water in Africa, and mail to the WV United Methodist Church, PO Box 2313, Charleston, WV 25328.
