Claude A. Mayhew's Obituary
Claude A. "Sonny" Mayhew, Jr., 77, passed from this life Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.
He was born December 28, 1932, in Baltimore, Md. and was of the Methodist faith. He was a veteran of the US Army Military Police stationed in Munich, Germany from 1953 to 1955. Sonny retired from Consolidated Freightways in Miami, Fla. and moved to Nitro, WV in 1994.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fran Mayhew and daughter, Dorothy Mayhew.
He is survived by children, Gene Mayhew of California, Mary Mayhew of Illinois and Judy Mayhew of Alabama. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A special thanks goes out to so many friends and neighbors who has assisted and blessed Sonny's life as well as his caregivers and all the people of Hospice and the Hubbard House.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 11, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Michael Blake officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
