Clearel Joyce Echols

Clearel Joyce Echols, 82, of Dunbar, WV, passed away peacefully at home on August 18, 2026.

She was born on March 11, 1944, in St. Albans, WV, to the late Olther and Clela Womack. Joyce was a graduate of St. Albans High School and worked as a legal secretary for several area attorneys. She spent the final 28 years of her career with the Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, where she retired in 2000. She was also a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved being at the Farm with family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger Echols, Sr.; her parents; and her sister, Bonnie Vance.

Joyce is survived by her children, Cheryl Perry (David) of Cross Lanes, WV, and Roger Echols, II (Liza) of Providence, RI; her grandchildren, Zachary Perry (Kassie), Matthew Perry, and Olivia Echols; and her great-grandchildren, Fletcher, Sullivan, and Violet Perry; brother Anderson Boo Womack (Linda), her sisters, JoAnn Hauser and Connie Meredith and cousin Dottie Atkinson.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Interment will take place at Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans, WV.

Family will welcome friends one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar
