Obituary

Clyde T. Rhodes, 89, of Dunbar, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at CAMC – General Division.

He was a member of the Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle for 35 years and was a US Army veteran of WW II, decorated with many medals while serving his country. He was a true patriot.

Clyde was a carpenter by trade. He loved his carpentry and also enjoyed fishing. He had been a resident of Dunbar for many years and also spent several years in Florida.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Bostic Rhodes, and parents, Ola Rhodes and Dovie Rhodes Carpenter.

Surviving is his sister, with whom he made his home for the past two years, Amie Smith of Dunbar; step-children, Raymond Dean Bostic of Poca, Jacquelyn Davis of Ohio, Brenda Jones and her husband, Darrell of North Carolina and Sylvia Greathouse and her husband, Ed of Vienna. He is also survived by several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his special friend, Charlie Shedd.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 28, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Bruce Young and the Rev. Gregory Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 27, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

The family would like to express their appreciation to his many friends of the Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle and to the staff of Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation for Dunbar for their compassion and care shown to Clyde during his stay. We are also grateful for loving friends and family who supported us through this time.
