Obituary

Clyde "CE", a man with many names given by friends and family was relieved of all pain and suffering on Thursday, August 6, 2015.

He was the oldest child of Clyde Sams, Sr. and Locelle Sams, who preceded him in death along with all of his younger siblings, brothers, John, Jennings "Bobby", Hugh "Tootsie" and sister, Marjorie "Louise" Francisco. Also preceding Clyde in death were his wife, Verdeen "Deen"; daughter, Chris Sams; son, Michael Sams; and several brothers and sisters-in-law too numerous to list.

He served in the US Army during WWII and the Korean War, participating in D-Day with the 509th Airborne Infantry Division, rank of Sergeant. He retired from United Dairy, so his children can say they were the Milkman's children.

Clyde is survived by his daughters, Carolyn (Bill) Wilkins and Connie Sams; grandchildren, Christopher (Julie Shamblin, companion) and Scott (Niki) Wilkins; great-grandchildren Isaiah and Sierra-Beth Wilkins all of Dunbar; sisters-in-law, Arlene and Norma Lee Sams, Ardona Holmes; brother-in law, Clifton Francisco; numerous nieces and nephews; close and dear friend, Virginia Dodrill and her family.

The family would like to thank Connie (daughter) , Doris Fulks (caregiver), Dr. Robie and the Dunbar Fire Department for taking wonderful care of our father and grandfather.

The family also requests no flowers. Please give to the charity of your choice.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015 at the Upper Mausoleum in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
