Coda Mae Thaxton passed away at home on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Now sleeping, waiting on Christ's return.  She was 84 years old, and lived in Dunbar, WV.

She was born on June 20, 1940 in Charleston, WV to Hassel Holmes Haynes and Willie Haynes.

Coda was a homemaker, foster parent, and also did adult care in her home as well.  She loved going to church and she loved her family. She attended Community Gospel Church on Wolf Pen Drive in Charleston.

In addition to her parents, Coda was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Thaxton; along with her her brothers and sisters.

Loved ones left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Amanda Harper and Annette Thaxton; grandchildren, Chanda Cooper, Justin Harper, Brandon Thaxton, Joshua Taylor and Alisha Harper; great-grandchildren, James Cooper, Gary Thaxton, Tanner Thaxton, Austin Thaxton, Collen Walker, Jakop Vance, Willow Beamstore, Daniel Taylor, and Holden Thaxton.

I would like to thank HospiceCare for their kindness, and helping me with my mother.

A graveside service for will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 in Haynes Cemetery on Wolf Pen Drive officiated by Pastor Benjamin Fowler.
