Obituary

Constance Delores Weaver, 76, of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away peacefully from this world on June 4 with her daughter Linda at her side.

Connie was born February 14, 1934, on the isle of Guam. She and her family later moved to Marianna, Florida, where she spent most of her childhood and graduated from Marianna High School.

She spent her adult life in Charleston, West Virginia. Connie believed each day was a blessing and loved nurturing her community, her family and her garden.

She had a lifelong commitment to peace, equality and justice. She was a loved and valued volunteer for Covenant House for 30 years, served on the Board of Directors for West Virginia Legal Aid from 1991-1998, worked for Charlotte Pritt's gubernatorial campaign and was awarded the JC Penny Golden Rule Award in 1993. In addition, Connie was a member of the National Organization for Women, West Virginia FREE, West Virginia Patriots for Peace and West Virginia Catholics for Choice.

She is survived by daughters Deborah Weaver of Columbus, Ohio; Linda Weaver Bossie of Dunbar, West Virginia; and Tina Weaver Badley of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia; her grandchildren Sheena, Rachel and Whitney Bossie; Jocelyn Rubeck; and Luke, Joy, Hannah, Sierra, Naomi, Abby, Tommy and Matt Badley; closest friends and confidantes Pat Hussey and Barbara Ferraro, former directors of Covenant House; and many other family members and friends.

Connie's family would like to thank Lydia Bowring of KVSS for her care and companionship during her illness.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m. Sunday, June 13 at Covenant House, located at 600 Shrewsbury Street in Charleston. It will be immediately followed by a memorial celebration of Connie's life, officiated by Rev. Steve Sawicki.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Sojourner's Shelter, Covenant House or Aquarian Universal Spiritualist Church. Donation envelopes will be available at Sunday's service.
