Courtenay Allen Johnson "Jeff", 47, of Dunbar, formerly of Nitro, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.
He was born in Kanawha County on April 15, 1968.
Courtenay was a graduate of Nitro High School and Marshall University. He earned his degree and worked in several hospitals as a registered nurse in the Kanawha Valley. He also worked as a beautician and barber, a paramedic for Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority, school cook and custodian for Kanawha County Schools, and custodian and musician for his beloved church, Dunbar Mountain Mission. Courtenay was an avid musician and cook; he enjoyed the Lions Club, church activities, and spending time with family and friends.
He was well loved by his family and friends. Courtenay had a witty sense of humor and was a friend to everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard D. Johnson and mother, Gloria J. Johnson.
Courtenay is survived by his sisters, Jennifer Johnson and Jaime Myers, all of Dunbar; his beloved nieces, Laken Johnson of Dunbar and Regan Myers of Winfield; his nephews, Christian and Logan Myers of Winfield; his best friends, Ruth Plant, Timothy Anderson, Rosemary McCoy and Melanie Vickers, all of which held a very special place in his heart.
Services will at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 17 at the Dunbar Mountain Mission with the Rev. Ray Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Moss Chapel Cemetery, Jackson County.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Dunbar Mountain Mission.
