Dale Pence, 92, of South Charleston, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary and son, Dale Pence, II; parents, Daniel and Verna Pence; brothers, Dr. Fred Pence of Waco, TX, Rev. Charles Pence of Kansas City, MO, Robert Pence of South Charleston.
Dale retired from Union Carbide - South Charleston Plant. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He was a member of Dunbar Masonic Lodge #159, Scottish Rite, and Beni-Kedem Shrine. He was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Dunbar #133, where he served as Past Worthy Patron. Dale was a volunteer fireman for South Charleston Fire Department.
Mr. Pence is survived by his daughter-in-law, Connie Pence of South Charleston; grandchildren, Katrina Pence of New York, Edward "Ned" Pence of South Charleston; sisters, Opal Brumfield of South Charleston, Wanda and Clarence Kessinger of Ada, OK, Patty and Ernie Lore of St. Albans; many nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 2, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Steve White officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside rites will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, immediately following the service.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 1, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, where an Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 4606 Kanawha Turnpike, South Charleston, WV 25309.
