Dallas "Chip" Garrett II, a lifelong resident of Dunbar, husband, father and grandfather, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. He was 67 years old.
A staple in the community his whole life through his work and his many friends, Chip enjoyed music, artists of a wide spectrum from genre to era. He was notorious for story telling and socializing with people, playing softball, billiards, and most importantly helping others. If a natural disaster occurred in the region, one could always count on Chip to provide supplies for those who lost everything or were in desperate need.He was simply a 'people person' who never met a stranger, and was incredibly well liked by those who knew him.
He was the third of four children, and only son of Dallas Lee Garrett and Delores Jean Garrett. Chip took pride in his profession as a Master Electrician and retiring member of IBEW Local 466, following in his father's footsteps. He was also an avid sports fan, primarily of West Virginia University football, basketball, along with the Cincinnati Reds baseball team.
Chip was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Lee Garrett and Delores Jean Garrett.
Left to cherish his memory, are his wife, Lisa (Bailey) Garrett; daughters, Morgan Danielle Garrett (fiancé Tynan Kyle Cornett), Miranda Lee Weldon (Patrick); granddaughters, Taylor Fleeman and Maggie Weldon; stepson, Joshua Lee Bailey (Aila); grandson, Ozker Dane Bailey; along with former spouse, Ronda Garrett.
A funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Burial will follow at Bailey Cobb Cemetery on Spring Hill Mountain, South Charleston.
Family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
A catered WVU themed Celebration of Life will take place from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Los Agaves Restaurant in Dunbar, WV.
