Obituary

Danikka Laverne McKeever Harris was called home to be with the Lord our God on August 4, 2024.

She was born on April 3, 1983 to the late Wanda McKeever and Keith Carter.

Danikka spent her early years in Charleston, WV, and when she was a teenager her mother moved the family to Dunbar, WV, where she graduated from South Charleston High School in June of 2001.  After graduating from high school, Danikka went on to NIT Everest Institute where she received a certificate to become a Certified Nurse's Assistant (CNA).  She loved the medical profession and thoroughly enjoyed helping people.  This was the ideal occupation for her because she was such a gracious giving person always willing to help those who were in need of assistance.  Many of her clients would be sad and some would even cry when her shift was over because she provided them with such tender care.  Danikka helped take care of her late grandfather Stanley Harris, and was caring for her grandmother Norita Harris prior to her passing.

Danikka had many talents.  She taught herself how to braid and cornrow hair while in high school.  She perfected a variety of styles to give her clients a salon look from the confides of her living room for both male and female patrons.  I am sure there are several people in here today whose hair she has done.  Danikka also loved to cook.  She treasured her time in the kitchen cooking holiday meals with her mother-in-law and other family members.

She met the love of her life, Keaton Harris, while in high school.  They married on November 29, 2003, and from that union two handsome sons were born, Malachi and Zacharius Harris. Though married at a young age, their love for one another never wavered even with life's ups and downs throughout their over 20 years together.

In addition to her parents, Danikka was proceeded in death by her grandparents, William and Dora McKeever; and her Paw Paw Stanley Harris whom she dearly loved.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Keaton Harris; sons, Malachi and Zacharius Harris (Cammi Brown); Godson, Nyzire Thomas; mother-in-law, Stannita Harris-Stewart; grandmother-in-law, Norita Harris; brother-in law, Robert Stewart (Canise) all of Dunbar; sister, Chevelle McKeever of South Charleston; brother, Travis McKeever of Arizona; special nieces, Ari'Zanya McKeever and Roraima Stewart; nephew, DeMonye McKeever; special cousins and best friends, Tykeyah Thomas of Dunbar and  Achieka Foley of Columbus; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends.

Danikka will be sorely missed by all who knew her, but her sweet spirit will forever live in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at The New First Baptist Church of Kanawha City.

Family will welcome friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home,Dunbar.
