Darvel O. "Bo" Humphreys, 93, of Dunbar, died peacefully after a long illness on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Dunbar Care and Rehabilitation Center.
At the time of his passing, Darvel was surrounded by his family and his loving wife of 35 years, Veva Cavender Humphreys.
He was born on March 19, 1919 in Sissonville, to the late Moody and Sadie Young Humphreys. He was a World War II veteran, proudly serving from 1942-1947 as a Corporal in the US Army 4166th Quartermaster Depot Company. Darvel was a faithful member of the Masonic Lodge #159 in Dunbar and was also a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies. He retired from Columbia Gas Co. in 1979 with 39 years of service.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Veva Cavender Humphreys; his son, Elmer Gale Humphreys; daughter Dixie Holstein of Dunbar; brother, James Humphreys of Charleston; foster sister, Lorraine Dawson of Poca; grandchildren, Debra and Jeff Holstein, Cyndi Humphreys, Michael Humphreys and Sara Gibson; seven great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 29, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Rev. Robert Wilmoth officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
