David Allen
Catlett Sr.
March 8, 1939 – July 12, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Allen Catlett, Sr., a devoted Christian, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and friend. He passed peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 12, 2025, due to a severe fall.
David was born on March 8, 1939, at home in Morgantown, West Virginia, to proud parents Allen and Lois Catlett.
He dedicated his life to Jesus Christ in January 1969. He served the Lord faithfully at Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle and First Church of God until his death.
After high school graduation, David joined the United States Air Force and served four years before being honorable discharged as Airman First Class on July 7, 1961.
He retired in 1994 from the United States Postal Service with over 30 years of service. David also served for over 25 years as Treasurer for the Dunbar Food Pantry.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Mary Daniels Catlett; his sister, Rosemary Ray, and his brother, John Catlett.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Ruth Crouser Catlett; his children, Kathy Crow (Steve), David Catlett, Jr. (Martha), Robert "Bobby Catlett (Shelly), stepchildren, Thomas P. Crouser, Jr. ( Mercedes) and Rex Edward Crouser II;
grandchildren, Alison Walls, Darin Crow, Ali Schoolcraft, Kaylyn Mareske, McKenzie Catlett, Casey Catlett, Alexis Catlett, Kennedi Catlett, Joshua Crouser, Julian Crouser, and Sofia Marie Crouser; nine great-grandchildren; along with his sisters, Edna Baylor and Connie Helms of Independence, WV and Carol Vichota of Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastor Tom Price officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
Family will welcome visitors from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
