December 22, 1942 – March 15, 2018
David B. Jarrett, 75, of St. Albans entered into peace on March 15, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House West from Alzheimer's with his family by his side.
He was born December 22, 1942 and was a 1961 graduate of Saint Albans High School. He attended Browns Creek Church of God as well as Nitro Church of God. He proudly served in the USAF during Vietnam and was stationed at Dow Air Force Base in Bangor, ME and was also stationed at Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks, AK.
David retired from Center Hardware after 48 years of service. Center Hardware was his passion and working with his coworkers and serving the community was very rewarding for him. He was a very good handyman who enjoyed wood working, crafts, and yard work. He had a favorite saying, "Cold hands but a warm heart."
He is preceded in death by his parents, Burton E. and Gaye B. Jarrett; brothers, William B. Jarrett and H. Eugene Jarrett; nieces, Alice Ann and Stacy; and nephew, Bobby Jarrett.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley; children, Terry (Diana) of Hurricane, Debbie of Saint Albans, and Todd (Gabi) of Kanawha City; six grandchildren, Danielle (Shawn) of Dunbar, Matthew (Sarah) of Hurricane, Megan of Huntington, Morgan (Zach) of Raleigh, NC, and Maya and Eli of Kanawha City; two great-grandchildren, Makenna and Jarret David of Dunbar; brothers, Hugh T. Jarrett (Katie) and James L Jarrett of Saint Albans; sisters, Martha Hillard (Ron) of Saint Albans and Betty McCallister (Larry) of Saint Albans and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 17 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Rev. Dr. Larry McCallister and Rev. Rob Van Fossen officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park and will include military rites.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hubbard Hospice House West, 4605 MacCorkle Ave SW, South Charleston, WV 25309 or Alzheimer's Association, 1601 2 nd Ave, Charleston, WV 25387.
Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
