David Lee Smith, 79, of Dunbar passed away July 7, 2018 at his home.

He was born September 2, 1938, the son of the late Joseph and Ruth Smith.

David retired form Chempower and served in the WV Army National Guard. He was a member of the Dunbar Reserve Police for 23 years where he received several citations for outstanding performance in the line of duty. He was also a member of Dunbar United Methodist Church.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

David was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Smith Pack .

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bonnie Bumgardner Smith; daughter Lisa Dean and her husband Robert; grandsons Nicholas Casto and his wife Deandra, and Thomas Brandon Casto and his wife Amy; great-granddaughters, "Pops Girls", Harper, Scarlett, Sophia and Courtney; brothers, Carl Smith, Marvin Smith and Joe Smith; sisters Sallie Martin, Jean Jarrett and Elizabeth Painter.

A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Erin Daniels officiating.

Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
