David E. Marion, 67, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
He was a retired supervisor for McJunkin Corp and was a US Army veteran. David was a member of the Charleston Mountain Mission, where he helped with the food basket program for 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl F. Marion, Jr., and grandparents, the Rev. J. Adam and Hazel Carpenter and Earl F. Sr, and Effie Marion.
Surviving are his loving wife, Brenda Joyce Marion; daughter, Pamela Marion Cupps and her husband, Sgt. Mason Cupps of Ft. Stewart, Ga; mother, Myrtle B. Marion of Mooresville, NC; brother, Randy L. Marion of Mooresville, NC; sisters, Ramona L. Cohen of Hurricane and Brenda L. Dove of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, Brandon and Holland Cupps. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
David's mission in life was to help at least one person each day. He found great joy in helping others. Even on his darkest days he found joy in helping others.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 2, at the Charleston Mountain Mission with the Rev. Fairley McCormick officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in John Beane Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, February 1, at the Charleston Mountain Mission.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Charleston Mountain Mission Welfare Fund, 1600 Seventh Avenue, Charleston, WV 25302.
