David H. Walker DDS, 71, of Dunbar, passed away at Hubbard Hospice House West on August 4, 2016 after a courageous battle with a malignant brain tumor (glioblastoma).
David was born in Charleston to the late Harold and Ella May "Skip" Walker. He was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Marshall University, and WVU School of Dentistry. David was the director of WVU School of Dentistry / Charleston Division where he practiced dentistry at CAMC Memorial. He was well liked and well respected by his family, friends, and colleagues. Among his many achievements, a major accomplishment that he was most proud of, was opening the free dental clinic at Health Right in Charleston. Nearing retirement he became the State Dental Director and was able to see patients at Dr. Shalhoup's dental office. David retired as Professor Emeritus at the WVU School of Dentistry.
David is survived by his wife of 21 years, Becky Walker; children, Jennifer Jerrome (Corey) of Columbus, OH, Andy Walker of Columbia, MD, and Kate Robinson (Blair) of Drexel Hill, PA; grandchildren, Vince and Marra Jerrome and Beck Robinson; and brothers, Jerry Walker (Martha) of Charleston and Jon Walker, MD (Mary Kearns) of Lancaster, PA.
David's wish was to be cremated. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, at First Presbyterian Church Dunbar with the Rev. Dr. Patricia Jarvis officiating.
