Del Phia
Slater
February 16, 1935 – July 22, 2022
Del Phia Slater was born February 16, 1935 in Cabell County, WV and Del passed peacefully at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida on July 22, 2022.
She held a variety of positions throughout her lifetime. Del was interested in cosmetology and worked for Cablish Baking/Purity Maid; however she retired from Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hosptial in Huntington, WV as a medical records assistant. She found this position to be her most rewarding. Del won the gold star from friends and family for her famous West Virginia Hotdogs and Biscuits and Gravy. She was also an avid artist and piano player and leaves behind many canvasses and memories for her family to cherish.
Del Slater was a devoted Christian and belonged to the Marlaing Church of Christ during her time in St. Albans, WV and the Gulf Coast Church of Christ while living in Fort Myers, Fl, until health issues did not permit her to attend.
She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Blevins, Sr.; mother, Lodoskey Estep Mace; sister, Edith Estep; and brother, Fred Blevins Jr.
Del is survived by her daughter, LaVada Williamson of Fort Myers, FL; sons, Johnie Mason III (Brenda) of Lehigh Acres, FL, and Mark Mason Sr. (Rebecca) of Dunbar, WV; step-son, Steve Slater (Mary) of Charleston, WV; step-daughter, Pam McClellen (Don) of TX; and sister-in-law, Linda Slater. Del was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, Kimberly Kelly, William Holley, Jr., Johnie Mason IV, Mark Mason, Jr., Christopher, Patrick, and Joey Mason; nine great-grandchildren, Katelyn Priestley, Heaven Holley, Bradley & Brandon Mason, Mark Mason III, Ian Mason, Christopher Mason, Jr., Abigail and Mia Mason; and three great-great-grandchildren, Lily and Mila Holley, and LaVada Williams
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
