Obituary

Delbert J. Roush, Jr., of Charleston, departed from this earth and went to his Heavenly home on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Thomas Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Charleston on July 4, 1942 to Delbert J. Roush, Sr. and Audra Earlene Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Samantha, his father, Delbert J. Roush, Sr., special aunt and uncle, Nellie and Oscar Conley, brother, Donald, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Lucille Wooddell, who loved him like a son, sister-in-law, Ella Mae Stewart, brothers-in-law, Kelly, Homer, Robert and Jimmy Wooddell, who considered him a brother.

Delbert proudly served in the United States Navy and retired as a Captain from the Charleston Fire Department.

He was a member of Starcher Baptist Church where he served as usher until his health began to decline. He was a Master Mason and belonged to Blue Lodge Kanawha 20. He was a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite and was a proud member of the Beni Kedem Shrine. Delbert was also a member of the Charleston Chapter No. 88, Order of the Eastern Star, where he served as Worthy Patron.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Patricia; son, Delbert J. Roush, III; daughter-in-law, Megan and the pride and joy of his life, grandson, Mason Scott Roush; mother, Audra Earlene Nelson of Beckley; brother, James Roush and sister-in-law, Donzetta of Pineyview; sister and brother-in-law, John and Nancy Sayre of Nitro; sister, Brenda Wilson of Virginia Beach, Va; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry and Wendi Wooddell of Winter Haven, Fl; sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, Joy and Randy DeMoss of Birch River, WV; sister-in-law, Drema Cunningham and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cledith and Carl Beard of Cross Lanes; brother-in-law, Arthur "Buck" Wooddell and sister-in-law, Shelia Wooddell.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 28, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Tom Moore officiating. Burial with masonic rites will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.

Friends may call two hours prior to the service which will be preceded by an Order of Eastern Star service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

Flowers bloom and wither away but children needing medical treatment through the Shriners Hospital will last forever. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Beni Kedem Shrine Transportation Fund, P. O. Box 2589, Charleston, WV 25329.
