Obituary

Delford Dallas Lewis, 91, a longtime resident of Dunbar, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2011.

He was born in Kenna, Jackson County, WV, the son of the late Mance and Ona Casto Lewis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Parsons Lewis after 42 years of marriage.

Surviving are his son, Delford Lynn Lewis of Hurricane; sister, Mary Alice Lewis Garnes of Dunbar; one nephew, one niece, three great nephews, two great nieces, three great great nephews and one great great niece.

Dallas graduated from Ripley High School, class of 1939. He was employed by Union Carbide, Institute Plant and retired after 42 years of service. He was an avid sportsman and especially enjoyed golf, bowling and square dancing to name a few of his activities. He was a member of the Dunbar Masonic Lodge, #159 AF & AM, Dunbar and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

A celebration of Dallas' life will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, December 26, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Dr. Okey B. Harless officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will be in Grandview Memorial Park.

Friends may call two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Boulevard, W., Charleston, WV 25387.

The family extends special thanks to caregivers Vera Standish, Sandy Hogan and the staff of Angel Avenue Assisted Living, Hurricane.
