Delmer Hugh Hartwell Sr., 78, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord, on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 23, 1938, in South Charleston, to the late Roland and Nora Hartwell.
He was a member of the U.S. Army 101 st Airborne Screaming Eagles. He was a 13 year member of the United Mine Workers and a proud 41 year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 625.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karla Sue Hartwell; son, Doug Hartwell; and brothers, Glenn Hartwell and George Hartwell.
Dee was survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Alice Hartwell; daughters, Kim Hartwell of South Charleston, Karen Hartwell-Souder and husband, Bobby, of St. Albans, Deborah Morris of Clay; son, Delmer Hartwell Jr. of Florida; brothers, Ward Hartwell, Roger Hartwell and Douglas Hartwell; sisters, Mary Knuckles and Clara Lynon; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday June 21, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.
Friends may visit two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
