Deloris J. Odell Lively, known to her family and friends as Dee, died peacefully on September 24, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House after a long illness
She was 82 years young and had resided in Dunbar. She was born on July 1, 1932, the oldest daughter of the late Gaynor T. and Sabilla K Odell. Dee was a 1950 graduate of Charleston High School, and had retired after 26 years of service from Kmart Corporation. She enjoyed working outdoors in her flower garden, and attending numerous family functions held each year. She attended and was very active in the Charleston Seventh Day Adventist Church until her health prevented her from continuing.
Surviving Dee are her companion, best friend and caregiver, Richard Aliff; her children, Susan Robinson (Jimmy), Stephen Lively (Elizabeth), Martha Pierson, Dr. John Lively ( Katie Littrell), and Barbara "BJ" Spangler (Jerry); eight grandchildren, Billy Robinson, Kelly Hawkins, Alyson Lively, Alex Lively, James Lively, Patricia Guthrie, Anita Atkinson, and Justin Winter; and her sister, Jacqueline Hoover. She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren and was expecting the arrival of her first great-great-grandchild in February 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 30 at the Charleston Seventh Day Adventist Church, 622 Kanawha Blvd, W, Charleston, with the Pastor Stewart Pepper officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
The family would like to give a special thanks to several Hospice staff, including Lorrie, Beth and Peggy, who helped take care of mom at her home, and to Rita, Tony, Cassie, Dorretta and all others who provided loving care to mom at the Hubbard Hospice House.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to your local Hospice organization, or to your charity of choice.
