Obituary

Delphia Phillips, 100, of Dunbar, departed this life on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, after a long illness.

She was born June 21, 1910 in Jackson County, WV. She was a retired school teacher for the Jackson County Board of Education and was a member of the Clendenin Advent Christian Church.

Delphia was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Phillips; mother and step-father, Martha and Perry Casto; father, David Cox; brothers, Russel Cox (Mazie), Rudy Cox (Mildred) and Darrell Casto; brother-in-law, Brady Carpenter; step-grandson, Guy Olive; and sister, Lena (Jake) Jacobs.

She is survived by her son, John D. Phillips (Juanita) of Dunbar; sister, Goldie Carpenter of Cross Lanes; sister-in-law, Myrtle Casto of Ripley. Also surviving are her grandson, Gary Phillips (Tammy) of Belle; granddaughters, Becky Rose (Carl) of Cross Lanes, Terry Tignor (Ronnie) of Pinch; step-granddaughters, Linda Olive of Elkview and Susan Hossler of Kanawha City; great granddaughters, Margaret Dorsey (Tommy) of Colorado, Susan McClanahan (Mike) of Cross Lanes, Holly McCoy (Matt) of Liberty, Lisha Tignor of Pinch, Haley Atkins of Belle; great grandsons, Shannon (Amy) Rose of Scott Depot and B. J. Meadows of Belle; step-great grandson, Eric (Nicolle) of Elkview; step-great granddaughters, Renee Jones (Mike) of Charleston, Lisa Carr (Lonnie) of Pinch; great great grandchildren, Emily Gritt, Amaris and Alleora Dorsey of Colorado, Myles McClanahan of Cross Lanes, Sylvia and Greta McCoy of Liberty; step-great grandchildren, Shiann, Madison, Olivia Jones, Joel Olive, Emily and Tiffany Crouch, all of Charleston; Taylor Olive of Charleston, Christopher Radliff of Pinch and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 10, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastors Naum Balser and James Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Fairplain Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
