Obituary

Delviccio R. Dyess, 46, of Charleston, WV, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

He was born on September 27, 1978, to the late Shelly Ann Dyess.

He was a 1996 graduate Capital High School where he was a member of the basketball team.  Delviccio  had an undeniable love for his mother that deepened as she was also his caregiver for the first six years of his paralysis.  Del was a great son, brother, father, and friend who loved unconditionally.

He was greeted in Heaven by his mother, Shelly; great-grandmother, Pastor Lillian Hunter; uncle, Alvin Russell; great-aunt, Henrietta Dyess; and great-uncles, Ozell (Pete) and Orange Dyess.

Left to cherish Delviccio's  memory include his son, Delviccio R. Dyess II; daughters, Carine Tyler, Azaria Wall; his beautiful granddaughter whom he adored, Carsyn Hensley; sisters, Sequaya Hunter and Candace Dyess; daughters-in-love, Tyra Coleman and Jaden Kent; his favorite niece and nephews, AhLerah Sanders, Daisjuan Russell, and Amaje Somervill; grand mother, Judith Penn; and his surrogate mother, friend, and biggest fan, Lisa Bailey; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Delviccio had many friends who have made an enormous impact supporting him as he adjusted to life in a wheelchair, continuing their support as he adjusted to living in nursing home.  Many thanks to Drake Tyson, Cassie Province, Amanda Somervill, Amber Parsons, Kristie Coleman, and Brian Woodson, and the most caring God Mother you could ever want, Marleen Booth.  Their 19 years of support have not gone unnoticed.  There are many caregivers, too numerous to name, who supported him, advocated for him, and came to see him once he entered hospice.  It meant so much to him and his family.  We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you have done along this journey.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Thomas Memorial Hospital, Hubbard Hospice House West, and Genesis Dunbar Center for the kindness and care he received.

A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 4928 Elk River Rd., Elkview, WV 25071 with Reverend Dr. Lloyd A. Hill officiating.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
