Obituary

Denver R. Boggs, Sr., 79, of Dunbar, passed away at home on Sunday, January 25, 2009.

Denver was born September 28, 1929 in Dunbar. He attended Dunbar High School until he joined the US Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Boggs Heating and Cooling from the early 1960s into his retirement. He also worked for Precision Pump and the West Virginia Rehabilitation Center during his career.

Denver loved his work and never retired in his mind. He felt a special bond with "his customers" that he served over the years. Denver's second love was vegetable gardening with his wife, Donna. He looked forward every year to sharing the rewards of his efforts with his family and neighbors.

Denver was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; his son, Denver R. Boggs, Jr.; his brother, Jerry; is sister-in-law, Flo Boggs and brother-in-law, Roy Whitt.

Survivors include his son, Danny Boggs and his wife, Gayla of Ashland, Ohio; his daughter, Kelly Edens and her husband, David of Cocoa, Fla; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Cecil Boggs, Jr. of Va., Charles Boggs and his wife, Rosie of Charleston, Frank Boggs and his wife, Jewell of Spencer, June Russell and her husband, Pat of Charleston, Gene Boggs and his wife, Evelyn of Washington, Betty Whitt of Cross Lanes; sister-in-law, Avonelle Bailey and numerous nieces and nephews. Denver will also be missed by his wonderful neighbors and his good friend, David Higgins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 30, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 29, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

There will be a gathering of family and friends for a dinner at the Fairlawn Baptist Church after the service at 2 p.m. on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Fairlawn Baptist Church, 500 20th Street, Dunbar, WV 25064.
