Dolores French
Blackwell
June 12, 2025
Dolores French Blackwell, 94, of St. Albans, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
As Dolores Thompson, she was well known by many as the first-ever Miss Kanawha County Majorette and was Miss Black Eagle from South Charleston High School. She enjoyed swing and square dancing for many years. She enjoyed her careers in Real estate, at Kelly's Men's Shop, and as a teller at local banks.
Loved by her four children, David C. French of Charlotte, NC, Jean Tucker (Steve) of Camp Hill, PA, Sandy French of Lexington, KY and Judy Cain of Dunbar. She has seven living grandchildren; and 12 great grand children. We are so grateful for Ruth and Larry Weber's unwavering friendship and support that they brought to her and her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Blackwell; parents, Harold and Wilma McCullough; loving aunt and uncle Rena and Paul Carter; granddaughters, Jennifer French; brother Creighton McCullough; and sisters, Anita McCullough and Rita Pierro.
There will be a celebration of life planned at a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral home, Dunbar.
