Donald Carl Burdette Jr., 60, of Charleston, took the backroad to Heaven on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

He was born on January 25, 1963, in Charleston, to the late Donald Burdette Sr., and Brenda Blaker.

To his wife, Donald was the definition of a loving trophy husband, caring and so loving.  To my children, he was the winner of the greatest dad ever award.  To his brother and sister, he was a great brother. To his friends and family, he was a helping hand that would give the shirt off his back or the shoes off his feet to help you.  His love for cars was seen in his MANY nice cars over the years. He loved being a tow truck operator, and his bosses Lori and Craig at Copley's garage , but he loved his grandkids most of all.  He showed them off to anyone that would listen or look at their photos.  He will be greatly missed by many, but now he's towing Earnhardt's car, and drinking his daily gallon of milk in Heaven, and that brings us peace.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Lil Nate; and nephew, Brandon Javins.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Julie Hedrick; children, P.J. Hedrick of Charleston, Laura Hedrick of Charleston, Andy Walters and wife Samantha of Elkview, Tiffany Gandee and husband Nathan of Elkview, Donald Scott Burdette and wife Sierra of Charleston; grandchildren, Kiara, Kemani, Kaliyah, Ayhionna, James, Isaiah, Austin, Kayanna, Elijah, Aaliyah, Remington, Kyria, Kendrick; brother, James Burdette of Sissonville; and nephew, James Burdette Jr..

A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 22, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Mike Ramsey officiating.

Friends may visit two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
