Donald Eugene Smith, 66, of Cross Lanes, passed away at home on Thursday, August 24, 2017, after a short illness.

He was born on February 16, 1951 in Charleston to the late Denzel and Willa Smith.

Don officiated high school and college basketball throughout West Virginia for 25 years. He worked many years in school fundraising and sales. He retired from BB&T after 15 years of service. Don loved his family immensely, especially his children and grandchildren. He had an incredible number of friends who will miss him greatly.

Don is survived by his daughters, Ginger Smith McLaughlin of Dunbar and Autumn Nicole Smith of Poca; grandchildren, Noah and Charlotte McLaughlin and Juliet Smith; sisters, Brenda Casto (Carell) of Tyler Mountain, Janet Thomas (Stuart) of Huntersville, NC; brothers, Bill Smith (Toni) of Cross Lanes, D.B. Smith (Angie) of Poca, Carl Smith (Gayleen) of Cross Lanes; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 28, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
