Donta Hamilton Jr.

Donta Hamilton, Jr., 36, passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2026.

Donta was born in Charleston, West Virginia, and later moved to North Carolina. Throughout his life, he left a lasting impression on those who knew him. He was known for his athletic ability, outgoing personality, and his gift for making people feel welcome. Growing up, he excelled in sports and was a naturally gifted athlete who brought energy and determination to everything he did.

Donta had a larger-than-life personality and enjoyed being around people. Those who knew him best knew that beneath his tough exterior was someone who cared deeply about family and friendships.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Salah Miguel; grandmothers, Paula Baker and Emma Gregg; great-grandparents, Hulin Mimms and Odessa Mimms; Aunt Tohana Hamilton; and Uncle Steve Gregg.

He leaves behind his wife, Anique Hamilton; his mother, Shawn; his father, Donta Hamilton Sr.; his sisters, Kiera, Maria, Savannah, and Anne; his brother, Antonio; as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.

Although his time here was far too short, Donta's memory will live on through the stories, laughter, and moments shared with those who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed and forever

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Grace Bible Church with Reverend Matthew Watts officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Family will welcome visitors one hour prior to the service.
