Doris Hughes Rainey, 76, of Nitro beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother went into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, August 6, 2007 surrounded by her family at CAMC Memorial due to complications from open heart surgery.
She was preceded in death by her parents S. Lewis Hughes and Virginia Riggs Hughes and her sister Janet Hughes Goble.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Marion W. Rainey of Nitro; daughter Anne R. Jopling and her husband Paul Jopling of Cross Lanes; daughter Kathie R. Hill and her husband Cecil R. Hill, Jr. of St. Albans; son David M. Rainey of Martinsburg, WV; son Daniel S. Rainey and his wife Lori Rainey of Cross Lanes. She is survived by her brother Ray L. Hughes and his wife Janet Hughes of Gallipolis, Ohio, and brother-in-law Gordon Goble of Gallipolis, Ohio. She is also survived by 2 granddaughters Kim J. Bradshaw of St. Albans; Jennifer J. Meadows and her husband Jim Meadows of Cross Lanes; 5 grandsons: Jason E. Hill and his wife Jennifer Hill of Hurricane, Matthew S. Hill of Barboursville; Kyle D. Rainey, Nathan L. Rainey and Isaac W. Rainey of Cross Lanes, 6 great grandchildren Kiersten Looney of St. Albans; Karleigh, Bayleigh and Jayme Meadows of Cross Lanes; Logan and Laken Hill of Hurricane.
Doris served the Lord throughout her life and was an active member of Cross Lanes Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother and housewife and was formerly the Administrative Assistant at First Baptist Church of Dunbar, where she was a member for 50 years.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Cross Lanes Baptist Church Building Fund, 102 Knollwood Drive, Cross Lanes, WV, 25313.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 9, at Cross Lanes Baptist Church, with Pastor Seth Polk officiating. Entombment will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
