Dorothy Virginia Hager, born on September 4, 1917 in Mingo County, passed away on February 9, 2010, at her home.

She was a graduate of Williamson High School in 1936 and married Frank Hager the same year.

Frank Hager worked for Union Carbide Linde Air Products Division and they lived in Philadelphia and Charlottesville, Va. before being transferred back to WV in 1943. They lived in Dunbar until moving to Charleston in 1960. While in Dunbar, Dorothy organized a kindergarten before they were placed in public schools.

Dorothy, "Dot" to her friends, worked 28 years for Dr. David B. Grzy. Upon retiring on December 31, 1963, it was only 22 days until her husband suffered a stroke. She cared for him 24 hours a day for 6 years and 11 months until his death.

Dot was the heart and soul of her family, not only the family she raised, but also the Stinson family in which she was raised. Her four younger siblings not only looked to her for advice but some came to live with her family after finishing their educations and began their search for jobs. Nieces and nephews sought her advice and some referred to her as "Second Mom" or "Mom No. 2."

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bertha Stinson, husband, Frank, brother, Russell Stinson and her sister, Eva Sanson.

Survivors include her son, Donald "Don" of Charleston, son, William L. "Larry" and his wife, Linda Bias of Roanoke, Va; daughter, Patricia "Pat" Sampson and her husband, Fred of Nitro; granddaughters, Melissa Holestin of Poca and granddaughter, Sara Sampson of Berkeley Springs; sisters, Margaret McMillan of Huntington and Ethel Sayre of Wilmington, DE.

Dorothy requested services to be private.
