Dorothy 'Dottie' McFarland Miller, 84, of Cross Lanes, passed away on Monday, November 4, at The Wyngate, Barboursville.
She was born May 31, 1929 in Charleston, and was a resident of Cross Lanes for almost 50 years. She enjoyed shopping, decorating her home, and spending time with her family. She was known for her fun-loving sense of humor and love of Jesus Christ. She was a retired employee of the State of West Virginia, Division of Employment Security with 41 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 30 years, Vernon A. McFarland; parents Andrew Dunlop and Dorothy Bradley; and brother, Woodrow Bradley.
Dottie is survived by her husband of 34 years, Raymond Miller; 2 sisters and their husbands, Betty Richardson-Ciccarello (Nick), of Huntington, and Emma Baker (Gary), of Viera, FL, and sister-in-law, Patricia Bradley of Mooresville, NC; 8 nieces and nephews, Yvonne Bradley, Connie McDaniel, Anthony Bradley, Dr. Bradley Richardson, Dedra Coles, Russell Baker, Jessie Richardson, and Jay Baker, 11 great-nieces and nephews, and 1 great-great nephew; lifelong best friend, Ella Bokey; and beloved pet dog Sparkle.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the caring staff of The Wyngate for their years of devoted care for Dottie and to Hospice of Huntington.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Dottie's vibrant spirit.
