Dorse Cross
Jr.
October 15, 1960 – January 22, 2025
Dorse Cross, Jr., 64 of Tornado, WV went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2025, at Hubbard Hospice House West with his family by his side after a short battle with cancer.
Dorse was a graduate of South Charleston High School Class of 1978. He was a hard worker as a body repair technician for over 40 years, with over 20 years at Spring Hill Frame and Body. He was a loving husband, proud father of three sones, and loving grandpa to his five grandchildren who he spoiled every chance he could. He had a passion for baseball and old cars. He gave so much of his time as a coach and President of St. Albans Little League Baseball where he mentored kids and made lifelong friendships. In his free time, he loved to work on and drive his 1970 Chevelle.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Phyllis (Gunnoe) Cross and Dorse Cross, Sr.; sister, Karen Koon; and brother-in-law, John Caldwell.
Left to remember his life are his loving wife of 43 years, Gina (Stanley) Cross; children, Dorse "Joe" Cross (Haley) of Evans, WV, James "Jimmy" Cross (Jackie) of Hurricane, WV, and Joshua Cross (Kayla) of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Addison Cross, Grayson Cross, Kylie Cross, Logan Cross, and Waylon Cross; sister, Darleen (Cross) Caldwell of St. Albans, WV; sister-in-law, Vicki Stanley of Marmet, WV; cousin, Rick Gunnoe of St. Albans, WV who was more like a brother to him; and many extended family members, friends, and colleagues.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. James Perry for his friendship with Dorse, excellent care, guidances and compassion during this difficult time. Also, a special thanks to the staff of Thomas Memorial Hospital for the care Dorse received in the last three weeks of his life and Kanawha Hospice for their compassionate care.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
Family will welcome visitors from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
