Duane Allen Fredrick, affectionately known as Fred or "G", 64, of Charleston, gained his wings on Saturday, December 11, 2021 as a result of complications with sickle cell and Covid-19.

He was born on March 13, 1957 in Lorain, Ohio, to the late Charles and Vieva Fredrick.

Fred was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School. He worked as a cook at Laury's in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife, Christina Hambrick Fredrick; brothers, Johnathan Fredrick (Shirley), Wendell Johnson, Jeff Johnson (Joan), Douglas Johnson, Quinton Johnson; sisters, Patricia Fredrick, Perdita Johnson Caster (Rickey), Twonna Fredrick-Williams (Stan), Yvette Johnson, Jocelyn Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A candlelight service will be held at a later date. There are no services scheduled at this time.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Children's Sickle Cell Disease Foundation (CSCF), 226 Paul St., Suite 105, Pittsburgh, PA 15211, www.cscfkids.org , in the memory of Duane Fredrick.

A special thanks to his roomie and caretaker, Shawn Coles and Joe Butler. The family would also like to thank the staff at CAMC General and Dr. Hoda Kasem for all their care.
