Obituary

Durwin "Red" Leonard, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Born on October 17, 1957, Durwin was a proud alumnus of West Virginia State University.

Durwin had a strong work ethic and spent his career making an impact in various roles.  He worked at Humphrey and The Anchor before dedicating 16 years to Olive Garden, where he became known for his hard work, warm personality, and ability to make everyone feel welcome.  He continued working at Olive Garden until he became ill, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and care.

Beyond his professional life, Durwin's greatest joy came from his family.  He was married to the love of his life, Lena Leonard, for 40 beautiful years, a union built on unwavering love, laughter, and partnership.  Durwin has now gone to be with his mother, Willa Ann; his father, Alvin Leonard: his mother-in-love, Dorothy Reeves; his brother, Alvin Leonard; and his brother-in-law and best friend, Larry Reeves, whose memories he cherished deeply.

He leaves behind his son, Jahmal and his granddaughter, Taliyah, who were the light of his life and a source of immense pride and joy.  He also leaves his sisters, Alisa Leonard and Felicia Yarbrough; his sister-in-law, Angela James; his brother-in-law, Terry Reeves (Tashawna); and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Durwin's legacy of kindness, devotion, and love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.  His presence will be dearly missed, but his memory will be celebrated forever.

A funeral service to honor Durwin Leonard will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Family will welcome visitors one hour prior to the service at the church.
