Edna Elizabeth Thomas, 92, passed away at her South Hills home on Wednesday, September 26, 2007, following a long illness.
She was born in Silver Springs, Fla. on Sept. 20, 1915, and as a child of the South, later moved to Charleston where she spent her adult life as a dedicated wife, loving mother and wonderful homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie Lee (Smyer) Dixson of Charleston and Robert Lee Price of Ocala, Fla. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Angeline Bacon Nicholson of Oxnard, CA, Frances Miles Nancarrow of Columbus, OH and a brother, Miles Vernon Dixson of Charleston.
She is survived by her husband, J. Douglass Thomas of Charleston; son, James D. Thomas, Jr. of Salt Rock, WV; daughter, Catherine Lee Grissom of Jamestown, NC; three grandchildren, James David Russell Thomas of Crab Orchard, WV, Stacy Elizabeth Brown of Tornado, WV and James Patrick Grissom of Jamestown, NC and her caregiver, Donna Dolin of South Charleston.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, September 28, at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens WV Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mark A. Jarrell officiating. There will be no visitation.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity in Edna's memory.
