Edna Ellen Wandling's Obituary
Edna Ellen Wandling (Faber), 96, of Dunbar, went home on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Hubbard Hospice House West.
She was born on October 25, 1919 to the late George and Martha Allen in Wyoming County. When Edna was eleven months of age, her mother passed away. She was then raised from the age of seven years by Hedge and Hattie Faber in Jackson County.
Edna graduated from Ripley High School and on May 16, 1936, she married Clair P. Wandling and together they had two sons.
The family was active at Dunbar United Methodist Church where she worked in many capacities. Edna sang in the choir for fifty years, served as Worship Chairman, was very active in the United Methodist Women and often worked in the church kitchen. She was a charter member of Dunbar-Institute Samaritan Center.
She also volunteered in the American Red Cross blood program, the American Heart Association, March of Dimes, Salvation Army and other civic organizations.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Clair P. Wandling and her son, Edgar Wandling.
She is survived by her son, William E. Wandling (Thelma Ann) of Charleston; granddaughter, Ellen Abbott (Michael) of North Carolina; grandsons, W. Edward Wandling (Mendy) of Texas, Craig Wandling (Denise) of Utah, Brian Wandling (Sandy) of Utah and Tony Wandling of Utah; daughter-in-law, Sherry W. Probst of Idaho; great-grandchildren, Corey, Garrin, Angie, Kirsten, Kathryn, Breann, Amber, Bryson and Kaleigh; great-great-grandchildren, Jay, Jayden, Hadlee and Aubree; and many nieces and nephews.
Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Rev. Dr. Okey Harless and the Rev. W. Edward Wandling officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Keller Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dunbar United Methodist Church, 1401 Myers Ave, Dunbar, WV 25064 or to Hubbard Hospice House West, 4605 MacCorkle Ave. SW. South Charleston, WV 25309.
