Edward James Kinney, 41, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

He was born on October 3, 1982, in Charleston.

E.J. was a very talented athlete and loved football. He was a family man and he dearly loved his children. Up until recently he was doing construction work.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard J. Kinney Jr.; and his sister, Devin Bennett.

E.J. is survived by his mother, Kay Bennett and husband David; children, Calista Kinney, Camdon Livingston, Millyardo Kinney, Kay'leon Rakes, Kalaya Kinney, Kyrie Kinney, Kobe Kinney, Ava Groom, Amarya Lee, Tristan Rogers, Kashyra Bailey; siblings, Chealon Kinney, Julian Kinney, Davon Bennett, Richard J. Kinney III, Rachael Kinney, Steven Kinney, Jamila Fox-Kinney, David Bennett; and granddaughter, Amina Winbush.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery, Charleston.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
