Eliza Lee Nichols, 90, of Institute, and formerly of Beckley, departed this life on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Mama's Place Assisted Living Facility after a long illness. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, other family members and friends.
She was born April 1, 1925 in Chipley, Florida, but later moved to West Virginia after getting married.
Eliza was always a hard, dedicated worker in providing for her children. She became a faithful Servant of God at an early age. She was a former member of Welcome Baptist Church in Beckley. Upon her relocation to Charleston in 2007, she immediately joined the "family" of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
Her passions were gardening, singing, helping people, studying the Bible, and spending time with her family.
Eliza was preceded in death by her parents, George and Anna Mae Williams; her brother and sister, Walter and Mattie Lou; her daughter, Gloria Easley; and her oldest son, Curtis Nichols.
She is survived by her four children, Roma Nichols of Boston, Mass., Sandra Price (Warren) of Cross Lanes, Reva Nichols of Dunbar and Harold Nichols (Andrea) of Fall River, Mass; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
Special thanks to HospiceCare, the nurse and caregivers at Mama's Place, all of her special friends and especially Jim who embraced her and made her last days more fulfilling.
A "Musical Going Home Celebration" of Eliza's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in St. Albans with Rev. Dr. Michael Poke, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St Albans.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Benevolence Committee, 821 B St., St. Albans, WV 25177.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
