Obituary

Elizabeth Vyrene Davis was born on March 28, 1930, being the eighth child to Elizabeth Coleman and Alexander Perkins. Elizabeth lived a full life of 92 years and peacefully passed away on January 18, 2023.

Elizabeth married the late Douglas Davis on September 10, 1946. Within the next few years they started their family, and lived in South Charleston; where they raised their children,

Throughout her life she was a caregiver to many and was always there when someone needed her. She mostly spent her time cooking, baking and working in food service. Elizabeth would also knit, sew, and tend to her garden in her backyard. She even sang in her local church choir at Mount Zion Baptist Church. While her kids were growing up and her husband was on active duty, she was a homemaker for her household. During her life she even had some health battles that she had to fight through and overcome.

Later, in her life Elizabeth resided with her daughter, Mae Williams, who took excellent care of her for 19 years until she passed.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Doulas Davis; two daughters, Evelyn and Sandra; parents, Elizabeth Coleman and Alexander Perkins; and her seven siblings, Forrest Perkins, Rose Rakes, Hilda Smoot, Alexander Perkins, Mae Louise Russell, Frances Green, and Dorothy McPherson.

Elizabeth is survived by daughters, Paulette Brown and Mae Williams; son, Douglas Davis Jr.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

"Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you, until we meet again."

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 26 in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar.

A funeral procession will leave Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar at 1:30 p.m.

Arrangements are in care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
