Obituary

Elizabeth "Lib" Davis passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at University of Cincinnati Hospice in Cincinnati, Ohio in the company of her family.

Lib, born on February 9, 1922, lived a full and rich life. She had been active in Newcomers of Hurricane, West Virginia as well as the Senior Center and her church; St. Timothy's of the Valley Episcopal Church. As a young woman, Lib loved to sing, having tried out once for an amateur hour in Charleston.

She loved to travel and had with her a spirit of adventure she imparted to her children and grandchildren. She had visited many areas of the United States as well as Italy, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Lib also loved reading. It has been said that you do not really know a person until you visit them in their home. If you were to visit Lib, you would find books everywhere and on almost any subject. She would collect information about birds, science, literature, or spiritual matters.

Ms. Davis also loved to play bridge, euchre, mahjong, Skipbo, and 'hand and foot.' Anytime, she could join in fellowship with friends and play a good game of bridge, she would be happy. It was a constant disappointment in her last few years that she could not find a good bridge group.

The opportunity for a good conversation was never lost on Lib. She loved meeting and talking with people. She had been a greeter in her Church and welcomed new residents to the Hurricane area through Newcomers. She always had a story to tell and loved hearing stories from others.

Grandchildren and great grandchildren were also a pleasure to Lib. She could spend hours sitting peacefully watching them play, talk, and grow.

Ms. Davis is preceded in death by her husband, James Wintz Davis and beloved daughter, Jennifer Jan Davis.

She is survived by her son, James Fraser Davis; daughters, Lisa Jill Singh, and Sarah Elisabeth Dunlap; grandchildren, Jennifer Davis Dodd, Arpana Singh, Anil Vikram Singh, Rajeev Vikram Singh, and Amanda Blessing; great-grandchildren, Forest Landa, Noah Landa, Reina Landa, Mateo Landa, Ariana Kimmel, Alexa Kimmel, Kainoa Singh, Kieran Singh, Isla Singh, Cole Hassan, and Hailey Hassan.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 25 at St. Timothy's in The Valley Episcopal Church, Hurricane.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service St. Timothy's in The Valley Episcopal Church, Hurricane.

The family asks that instead of flowers, donations be made in her memory to St. Timothy's in The Valley Episcopal Church, 3434 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, WV 25532 or to Otterbein Hospice Care, 570 OH-741 Suite 218, Lebanon, OH 45036.

Arrangements are in care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
