Elmer F. Coffey, 77, of Dunbar, WV went home to sing in Heaven's choir October 8, 2006.
Elmer sang in many gospel groups throughout the years. He had served as choir director at Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle, West Virginia Home Mission and Community Chapel. His passion in life was singing and reading and teaching the Bible. He was a member of the Dunbar Masonic Lodge.
He is precided in death by his father, Harry Coffey, mother, Goldie Mullins and two half brothers, Cecile and Hillard Mullins.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lorene; three daughters, Debbie Shields and husband Terry of The Woodlands, TX, Penny Wolfe and husband Parke of Charleston, Brigitte D'Andreas and husband David of Yorktown,Virginia and son Eric Coffey and wife Rita of Barboursville. Nine grandchildren, Casey, Carrie, Destiny, Travis (T.J.), Shawna, Monica,Brandon, Parke (P.J.) and Chase. Four great-grandchildren, Dylan, Konner,Hunter and Nathaniel.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 10, at Dunbar Mountain Mission, with the Rev. Al Mendez, Rev. Billy Jackson, and the Rev. Jim Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Friends may call fro 6 to 9 p.m., Monday, October 9, at Dunbar Mountain Mission.
