Obituary

Elsie Freda Eplin Rose, 91, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 17, 2007 in CAMC General Hospital after a long illness.

Elsie was born on June 3, 1916 in Dunbar to the late Ira H. and Ruby B. Eplin. She was a wonderful homemaker, who will be remembered for the love that she bestowed upon her family, whether in caring for one who was sick, or preparing a large family meal with food that she canned from her garden.

She could play the piano by ear, in her younger years, could be heard playing and singing one of the many old hymns that she loved, especially The Old Rugged Cross. Elsie loved beautiful flowers and she enjoyed surrounding her home with them, especially pink roses. Her love for animals was apparent in the many pets that found their way into her home throughout her lifetime.

In her later years, she was cared for by her sister, Viola and her husband, Harold Totten and her niece, Sheree Robertson, all of Charleston.

We will miss her laughter, her mischievous smile and her sharp wit, but most of all, we will miss a woman whose love for her family knew no limits. Yes, Elsie, it finally is "ok". You've made it home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clayton D. Eplin, Frank M. Eplin, Robert M. Eplin, Harley W. Eplin, Ira H, Eplin, Jr., Clem F. Eplin; her sisters, Beulah Eplin and Unita Eplin.

Ms. Rose is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Frank D. and Frances Rose of Charleston; sister, Viola J. Totten of Charleston; brother, Arthur M. Eplin of Akron, OH; grandchildren, Michael E. Rose of Charleston, Frankie L. Rose of Oklahoma, Elizabeth A. McConnelle of South Carolina; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 21, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with her nephew, Pastor Chane Eplin of Lakeland, FL officiating and her favorite hymns sung by her niece, Diane Eplin. Interment will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 20, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
