Emma Ruth Childers, 89, of Ona, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 9, 2018.

She was born on May 28, 1929 in Dunbar to the late Gayno and Gladys Bess.

Ruth had a very kind heart and was always ready to lend a hand to her family and friends when they needed her. She was at her best when cooking for and entertaining her loved ones. Aunt Ruth, enjoy the well-deserved peace and rest that the Lord will give you.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Childers; brothers, Lawrence and George Bess; sister, Barbara Porter; nephew, Steve Bess; sisters-in-law, Sylvia and Margaret Bess.

She is survived by her nephews, Rick Bess and wife Winnie of Kenova, George Bess of Columbus, OH, Charlie Bess of Columbus, Shane Porter and wife Tigger of Los Angeles, CA, Jason Porter, of Leon; niece, Phyllis Conrad of Dunbar; brother-in-law, Bill Porter of Leon; and closest friend, Marian Bowen of Ona.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 14, in Anderson Cemetery, Dunbar.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
