Obituary

Emogene Scarberry, 75, of South Charleston, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 with her family by her side.

She was born in Mt. Hope, WV to the late Whitley and Roslyn Tabor.

Emogene was married to the love of her life, Raymond Sr., September 6, 1964. They spent the majority of their married life in South Charleston raising two sons who were rumored to be quite a handful. They brought her a number of grandchildren who she spent the greater part of her life loving and cherishing. Emogene was often the butt of many pranks and jokes played by her grandchildren. Luckily, her sense of humor was one of the greatest things about her. Emogene's later years were spent admiring and spoiling her great-grandchildren.

Her life was fulfilled by the love she had for the people who surrounded her. Emogene became family to most who met her. Even through her ailments, she focused her life around her family and friends. Emogene was one of a kind and only those who truly knew her can understand the value of that statement.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lee Scarberry Sr.; and her sister, Jane Johnson.

Left to cherish Emogene's memory are her sons, Raymond Scarberry Jr. (Tammy) of Red House and Faron Scarberry (Tracy) of Hampton, VA; sister, Suzy Tidwell (Hoyt) of Lawrenceburg, TN; grandchildren, Michael Scarberry (Jessica) of St. Albans, Brandon Scarberry (Kelsey) of Teays Valley, Bryan Scarberry of Riner, VA, Britney Scarberry-Martin of Louisville, KY,  Brandey McFarland (Alec) of Clarksburg, Kaitlin Scarberry (Deanna) of South Charleston, Bradlee Scarberry of Hampton, VA, and Brooklynn Scarberry of Hampton, VA; great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Madilynn, Tatum, Leevi, Breyden, Sebastian, Ridge, Monroe, Samantha, and Blair; and a host of other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 30, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastor Charlie Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
