Ernest R. Barger Sr., 88, of Ansted, formerly of South Charleston, went home to be with his Heavenly Father, Friday, July 18, 2014 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley surrounded by his family.

He was born in Mammoth and was the last surviving child of the late Frederick and Sarah Barger. Ernest was a combat veteran of WW II and the Korean War where he was wounded in battle and received the Purple Heart. Mr. Barger retired from FMC Corporation, South Charleston, with nearly 40 years of service.

In addition to his parents, brothers and sisters, Ernest is preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia M. Scarberry Barger.

He is survived by his wife Lenora Marlene Barger; son, Ernie Barger Jr., and wife Jennifer of South Charleston; daughter, Donna Ehler and husband P.J. of South Charleston; grandson, Dana Samples and wife Angela and great-grandchildren Camryn Samples and Carson Samples all of Winfield.

Visitation is from 4 to 6 pm on Sunday, July 20, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

Services will be at 11 am Monday, July 21 at Keller Funeral Home with Pastor Jesse Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
