Obituary

Ernestine Evelyn Chandler, of South Charleston, passed away February 5, 2011 at her home.

She was born March 22, 1914 in Teays Valley to the late Isaac Nye and Lydia Rowena Erskine.
Ernestine was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Charleston and attended Dunbar High School. She was very interested in flower arranging and had been an employee of the former Hamill Floral Co.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson Chandler; son-in-law, Robert Evans; brothers, Earl, Ronald, Ivan and Otis "Todd" Erskine; sisters, Ima Stead and Lois Parkins; and step-son, Rudy Chandler.

Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Evans of California; two grandchildren, Patricia and Rebecca Evans; three great grandchildren, Tricia Dahlgren and her husband, Blake, Kevin and Taylor Thompson, all of California; step daughter-in-law, Ruby Chandler and step-grandchildren, Kim Benson and Aaron Chandler, all of Florida; and several nieces.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 16, at Cunningham Memorial Park with the Rev. Pete Thompson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Boulevard, W, Charleston, WV 25312.
